Three CDP Use Cases, You Can Apply Right Away

Data is the raw ingredient that provides insights. Insights then lead to action that help an organization achieve it’s goals. A CDP (Customer Data Platform) is a platform/tool that allows you to take action on the data you collect on your sites users and their behavior.

In simple terms, using a CDP you can create an audience group of your desired users and then target them with an on-site message or email (using email integration). You can also take other actions but for now, to make things easier to understand, let’s just focus on these two actions.

Last month, I presented a few use cases that you can apply right away using free CDP from Piwik PRO. In case you did not attended the live sessions, here are those 3 use cases.

Country Specific Offers/Discounts/Pricing

If you get potential customers from around the world but your pricing/offers are US centric then it is likely that customers from various countries/regions are not converting because they can’t afford US centric pricing. Run surveys to find out it that’s the case. If it is then apply this use case.
Audience: Users from specific countries/regions.
How: Provide country specific offer or pricing via on-site banners or by modifying the listed pricing on the site. All done via CDP’s drag and drop functionality.

Shopping Cart Abandoners

It is easy to convert those users who have shown interest and started the checkout process than those who never started the process. This use case allows you to focus on converting those who abandoned a shopping cart.
Audience: Those users who left the shopping cart at the last step.
How: Provide an incentive to move them through the last process. This can be done by showing them an on-site banner, offering a time sensitive discount/free shipping to build urgency. You can even send an email to them by integrating CDP with email system.

Survey Users

Users have different motivations and reasons to visit your site. By understanding these desires and motivations, you can create better targeted messages.
Audience: Any users that you want to survey. You can start with cart abandoner to understand why they did not complete the purchase process.
How: Pop up a survey with one or two questions to those users who did not finish the purchase process. Pass the survey response back to Piwik PRO to enhance user profiles. Use the survey response to decide what offers/incentives to provide to users nudge them to complete the purchase process.
