3 Insights You Can Apply Right Away

In this section, I will share my thoughts based on my conversations with experts, clients, and students. These are not tips and tricks related to tools but are the insights that will help you in your career.

  1. Job Seekers - This week I was talking to a job seeker, who thought she needed to add more skills and tools to find a job.  However, getting a job generally boils down to your attitude and confidence. No matter how many tools you learn you can’t get a job if you don’t have the right attitude and confidence. In your interview, your attitude should show that you are passionate about this line of work and you will be an asset to the company. You are the person, who the hiring manager can count on.  That kind of attitude will land you a job instead of just a list of tools on your resume. Attitude comes from the willingness to succeed. You have to believe in yourself and be confident in your skills.

Confidence comes from practicing the craft every day. So don’t look for all sorts of tools to add to your resume. Focus on one or two tools and master them. That will provide you with the confidence you need.

  2. AI & Digital Analytics - I recently presented the impact of AI on Digital Analytics at the Digital Analytics Association’s conference in Chicago. In a nutshell, I believe AI is going to disrupt the job of Digital Analysts.  To explain, why I divided Digital Analyts’ work into 4 core areas

    1. Strategy

    2. Tools

    3. Reporting, Analysis and Insights

    4. Optimization

There are already tools that are capable of doing some aspects of all of these core areas. I shared a few examples to make my point. Not just Digital Analytics, AI is going to impact almost all types of jobs. According to a survey by edX, 49% of the executive said that their current workforce won’t be relevant by 2025 due to advancements in AI. However, they are willing to hire and promote those who know how to use AI. So, now is the time to start learning AI for Digital Analytics. AI is the next big focus in the Optizent Academy.

  3. Tool Administration - Having too many people manage tagging and containers can create a mess. Have you heard the saying “too many cooks spoil the broth”? That’s exactly what happens when you have too many people creating and managing tagging and reporting.

Recently, I witnessed this situation with a client, someone with Administoras access deleted a tag that was required for another tag to properly work. As a result, all their reports were broken and they lost valuable data for over a week. So, always ensure that proper checks and balances are in place, and don’t let too many people manage tag managers and tool configuration.
